The next couple of weeks are going to be very busy, so before the craziness ensues, I wanted to post an update on what I’ve been up to.

Enjoyed… spending a couple of days back at college visiting friends. I went back for an art show, but really because I wanted to see and spend time with my friends before the summer and before several of them graduated.  5 of my friends and I went in together to get 2 of our good senior friends gift baskets- we got the idea here, but changed things up a bit.  We also got one of the first photos of the 6 of us all year.

Took… a road trip up to Rochester (following my trip to my college) to pick up one of my best friends from school and give her a ride home (she was home a week, then headed back to Rochester).  We had a good time on the 4-hour trip and talked about everything under the sun.

Had a couple of girls’ nights… with friends while my one friend was home.  It was nice to catch up with the friends I don’t see nearly enough.

Celebrated… my brother’s graduation from Stony Brook University- he now has a degree in computer science and is job searching.

Hiked… a number of times with my mom and others.  There is a small network of trails behind our high school and the trails have recently been expanded, including bridges over the stream, so we’ve had fun exploring the new trails.

Kayaked… 3 times.  We saw bald eagles every single time (which actually isn’t that unusual for our area, but still always exciting).

Attended… a conference in Niagara Falls (the Annual Meeting of the New York Conference of the United Church of Christ- I was a delegate from my church).

Got… my hair trimmed and layered.  It doesn’t look much different, but at least the dead ends were removed (and they were really bad seeing as the last time my hair was trimmed/cut was when I cut it to chin length over a year ago- it’s now past shoulder length).

Cleaned… again and again.  It took a while to get all of my brother’s stuff from college organized and figured out, especially since we weren’t sure how soon he’d find a job and need to move out again.  We also had events occurring at home that led to us needing to clean up the house.

Babysat… a few times.  This is something I really miss at college, so it’s nice to get back into it.  I’ve been babysitting since I was 12 and love it!

Baked/cooked… my great-grandmother’s rolls, a whole chicken (my first one ever!), and chicken cordon bleu (my mom’s recipe is the best, and this was the first time I’d ever made it)

Watched… “Monuments Men”and the last several episodes of the final season of “Bones”.

Wrapped up… my sister’s senior year by attending her academic fair, Baccalaureate service, and  Music Awards Dinner.

Had… a couple of campfires, of course including s’mores.  It was nice to see friends (well, my brother’s and sister’s friends too).

Figured out… my summer job and such.  I am the weekend supervisor at our local pool and am also planning to do odd jobs, like painting and babysitting.

Met… a friend for dinner. We planned to go to Wing Night at a local restaurant, but the wait was ridiculous, so we just went out for a regular dinner at another restaurant.  She just returned from Italy, so enjoyed hearing all about her trip.

Gathered… with my family, my grandparents, and my cousins and their parents for a late lunch to celebrate Father’s Day and my mom’s birthday (which fell on father’s day this year).  I enjoyed catching up with my cousins, whom I hadn’t really seen much since Christmas.

Attended and participated in… a street festival/celebration in my town.  Our local library was built with funds from my great, great, great-uncle, so they asked us to attend the cake-cutting ceremony to celebrate his birthday.  I also participated in a watermelon eating contest (I lost), ate kettle corn, and watched “County Fair” a documentary that has been submitted to a number of film festivals and which is about my county’s yearly fair.

Enjoyed… having one of my college friends visit this past weekend- we kayaked, helped my grandpa make rolls, visited my grandparents, went out to lunch, had a campfire (along with several of my friends from home), and just relaxed and hung out.

Worked on… keeping the garden in check.  We have a pretty big garden, so this is quite the task.  I’ve been spending time weeding every week, but can’t keep ahead of the weeds.

Sorry for the long post- it’s been a busy month!  The coming couple weeks are also going to very busy- my sister’s high school graduation is this coming weekend, and my mom entire family will be here for it, along with all three of my dad’s sisters and at least a couple of cousins.  I can’t wait to see everyone!

What have you been up to?
