First, Happy 4th of July!!! I spent the afternoon with some volunteer friends at a local restaurant just hanging out and enjoying our afternoon free of classes!
This was a busy week! We had our regular language and technical classes Monday and Tuesday, our first language assessment on Wednesday, our hub site day in Chisinau on Thursday, during which we had our site announcements, we were in Chisinau again on Friday for our Site Team Conference, and then headed to our future sites for the weekend, either on Friday night or Saturday morning. We came back from those this morning or afternoon.
The language assessment went pretty good- I need to work on prepositions and indefinite forms of words, but otherwise did well. The test was entirely oral- I had to talk about my family, about my former work experience, buy fruits and veggies from a piata (pee-aht-sah), purchase gifts, and purchase ingredients to prepare a meal.
Our Site Team Conference was held with our school directors. It was great to meet the woman I will be working under at my new site, and the activities were well-planned. For one of the activities, we divided into volunteers versus school directors. We split into smaller groups, then we had to rank 10 different values, coming to a consensus within our groups. We then shared this with everyone else- it was interesting to see what we as Americans/volunteers ranked as being very important to us and what wasn’t compared to how the directors/Moldovans ranked their values.

I spent Saturday morning to Monday morning at my future site in Festelita. I had a really great time! The town is GORGEOUS!
Today, we had short Romanian lessons, then were let loose to enjoy the holiday.
Overall, it was a very busy, slightly overwhelming week! A lot of really important stuff happened, and we had to get up particularly early several days. But it was also a good week!
