¡Hola! (+ Peru trip blog link)

I know it’s been a bit quiet around here lately.  Between the last week of regular classes for the term, finals week, and preparing for my trip to Peru, I haven’t even had time to get on the internet much at all.  I was planning to schedule blog posts for when I am gone, but that didn’t quite work out.  So, I just wanted to check in briefly.

In case you missed my previous blog posts about Peru, I also wanted to share some details of what I am talking about.  I am going on a 3-week trip as part of my college’s third term (we have two 12-week terms and an additional 6-week term in the spring) with a professor and 4 other students.  We will be studying Peruvian literature (in Spanish!) and visiting a local orphanage in Cusco while there.  We’re spending the first 3 days in Cusco to acclimate to the altitude, and then will be doing a 3-day trek up to Machu Picchu.  We are hiking on a more remote trail for the majority of the trek, but will hike on the Inca Trail the final day.  The week following the trek we will be in Cusco, taking a couple of day trips to other cities and locations nearby.  This will be followed by a 2-day stay in Lake Titicaca, and 2 days (1 night) in Lima.  I am so excited for the trip and will share all about it when I return!

In the meantime, my classmates and I will be writing on a blog through our college.  If you would like to see what we’re up to, feel free to visit the site, which can be found here!

Have a wonderful next three weeks, and Happy Easter!

  1. I’m going to Peru shortly as well! What will you be donating at the orphanage in Cusco? My school sent 500 pounds of school supplies ahead of our visit, but I still think I should bring something extra and I can’t decide what!

    1. We are each bringing at least one stuffed animal/other safe toy. We also considered buying a bunch of yoyo’s or something like that. Once we are there, we are planning to go to a local bookstore and buy children’s books. Enjoy your trip!
